In accordance with Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Election Rules and Rules of Procedure of the FaME Academic Senate, the FaME Academic Senate calls the election to the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Management and Economics for the term 2012 – 2014.

The election will take place on 6 December 2011.

At its meeting held on 14 November 2011, the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Management and Economics at TBU in Zlín elected in a secret ballot prof. Dr. Ing. Drahomíra Pavelková as the candidate to be appointed the Dean.

We would like to invite TBU students to participate in the online survey Trendence Graduate Barometer, the biggest European survey focused on education and career. Students of more than 1,000 universities from 24 European countries take part in the survey.

Questions are aimed at your satisfaction with the study, your future career expectations and potential employer expectations. The survey collects student opinions from across Europe and examines the differences and common features that exist between countries to facilitate the transition of students from higher education to the labour market.

In connection with the introduction of candidates for FaME Dean, TBU in Zlín, to take place on 9 November 2011, an official time off from 12.00 to 3.00 p.m. has been announced at the Faculty of Management and Economics of TBU in Zlín. At the time announced, no classes will be held at FaME and tutorial hours of academic workers shall be cancelled.

Zhang Jianpeng, a student at FaME, received the 2010 Chinese Government Award. This award was established by the Chinese government in 2003 and is given for outstanding academic performance by Chinese students studying abroad.

Mr. Roman Borůvka, a first-year Master’s student at FaME (degree course in Finance), won the first prize in a competition supported by the Raiffeisen Bank, and that for the best case study. The competition was open to all talented university students, regardless of their specialization, year of study, age or town where the university is located. I would like to congratulate him on his accomplishment.

Mr. Jiří Šnajdr, a first-year student (in the degree course in Management and Economics) at FaME, was successful in two competitions that took place in May. Together with Mr. Adam Kordas (a third-year student in Management and Economics) they finished as runner-ups in the final round of the "Test Your Managerial Skills" competition held in the company Hewlett-Packard in Prague on 4 May 2011.
On 11 May 2011, this team, joined by Mr. David Paprskář and Mr. Lukáš Němčík (both of them are first-year students in the degree course in Management and Economics), participated in the final round of the ‘ESB Business Cup 2011’ held in Reutlingen (Germany). They took the fifth place among 16 teams, which is a big success, considering the demanding tasks and strong international competitors.
I would like to congratulate all the successful students and thank them for their successful representation of our Faculty in the Czech Republic and abroad!

The traditional music festival - Rag Day – is here again. On Tuesday, 3 May 2011, places such as the Peace Square, Metro Club, Golem, Backstage, Flip and Dílna 9472 will be converted into venues to host the traditional student spring festival.

The Rector’s Sports Day 2011, organized by the Department of Physical Training, will take place on Wednesday, 4 May 2011.




This year’s edition of the “Anti” Ball, a popular project organized by the TBU Student Union, will be held in the Golem and Flip clubs at 21:00 on 22 March 2011. The entrance fee for attendees wearing elaborate masks is CZK 30, for those without a mask it is CZK 50. The programme will feature performances by bands such as A Banquet, Neo Ches Sunny, Ginger (FaME band).

Tomas Bata University in Zlín – Faculty of Management and Economics would like to invite you to attend the 7th edition of the Annual International Bata Conference for Ph.D. Students and Young Researchers, to be held on 12 April, 2011.



The fifth edition of the “Gala Night” project will take place in the TBU Assembly Hall (U2 building, Mostní 5139, Zlín) at 19:00 on Tuesday, 8 March 2011. This year’s edition of the project has been organized again by the Student Union in cooperation with students of Project Management and supported by TBU. Six among the twenty nominated students will receive an award in recognition of their excellent work, and the winner in the "Crazy Action" category will be announced. The programme features Capoeira fighters (Brazilian martial art) and performances by dancers and cowboys. The entry is free. The afterparty in the “Flip” discotheque will start at 21:00.

In compliance with Rector’s Decree No. 1/2011 an official time off has been announced by the Rector on the occasion of the “TBU Gala Night 2011” and that for the period starting from 18:30 on 8 March 2011.


The Thomas Bata Foundation is a member of a team that introduces FameLab® - a competition for scientists, created in Great Britain in 2004 - to the Czech Republic, and that in cooperation with the British Council. Young scientists are offered an opportunity to communicate about science.

The TBU Gala Ball will be held in the Congress Centre in Zlín at 19:30 on 25 March 2011. For more information (in Czech only) about the Gala Ball please refer to http://ples.utb.cz.



Since October 2010 the OLIVER University League has been organized in Zlín and that in squash, badminton and bowling. 26 squash players, 13 badminton players and 18 bowling players participated in the autumn season (October 2010 – January 2011). Do you want to join us? The spring season starts on 1 February.

The finalists of the MISS ACADEMIA of the Czech Republic 2011 contest have been announced. A total number of 320 female university students from the whole Czech Republic wanted to participate in this prestigious beauty contest. During the castings held in Prague and in Brno and involving a swimsuit round and a conversation with the jury, the girls had also to pass a knowledge and intelligence test. The gala night, at which the winner of the fifteenth Miss Academia contest will be announced, is scheduled to be held in the Congress Centre in Zlín on 29 March 2011.
