International Conference
Also in 2013, the Department of Finance and Accounting together with the Department of Enterprise Economics will organize the 6th international conference on Finance and the Performance of Firms in Science, Education and Practice. It will be held on 25 and 26 April 2013. The conferences have been highly appreciated by professionals. It is confirmed by the fact that the conference organised in 2011 has been included in the Thomson Reuters Conference Proceeding Citation Index.

Extension of Accreditations
In 2011, the accreditation of the Doctoral degree course Finance was extended for another 8 years. At the beginning of 2012, the accreditation of the Bachelor’s degree course Accounting and Taxes was extended for another 8 years as well. The degree course Accounting and Taxes has been offered to students of the Faculty of Management and Economics since the academic year 2009/2010.

Innovation of Subjects
On 1 September 2009, Tomas Bata University in Zlín became involved in another project within the Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme funded by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic. The project entitled “Innovation of Subjects Aimed at Financial Management with the Emphasis on the Application of Practical Procedures, Knowledge and Tools”, abbreviated as “FINPORT” (No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/07.0358) has been investigated by the Department of Finance and Accounting and Department of Enterprise Economics in collaboration with Brno University of Technology. The main purpose of the project is to create a modern model for education in financial management, which aims to improve the quality of graduates and thus provide them with better job opportunities in the future. New Optional Subjects
Students can currently select new optional subjects. In the winter semester: A
ccounting in English, Taxes of Individual Businessman, Basics of International Accounting. In the summer semester: Financial Accounting II, Wages Accounting, Accounting and Tax Software. All the above subjects are offered to students studying degree courses Management and Economics + Public Sector Administration and Regional Development; students studying the degree course Accounting and Taxes are required to pass the subjects as compulsory.

Investing in Education Development
On 1 June 2009, the Department of Finance and Accounting launched research on a project entitled “Education in Accounting and Taxes” (No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/07.0050) under the Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic. The project is aimed at the expansion of education in accounting and taxes at FaME as well as at involving the participation of foreign experts and institutions in the process during its implementation. StudentBroker Program
Since the beginning of the summer semester 2009/2010 the Faculty of Management and Economics has participated in an interactive educational program StudentBroker, implemented together with RM-SYSTÉM and FIO.
The program allows students to gain practical knowledge and skills in the field of capital market and portfolio creation. The application follows supply and demand on the RM-SYSTÉM Czech stock exchange, it is also possible to invest fictitious capital in U.S. stock exchanges NYSE and NASDAQ, trade German shares from the XETRA market, shares of the Polish Warsaw Stock Exchange and the derivatives of U.S. futures and CME and CBOT futures exchanges. Bachelor’s Degree Course Accounting and Taxes
Since the academic year 2009/2010 a new degree course Accounting and Taxes has been offered by the Faculty of Management and Economics to applicants for study in the frame of Bachelor’s degree programme Economic Policy and Administration.
